Valentine’s Day

HeartValentine’s Day does not bring a warm feeling into my heart. More like a warm feeling into my liver. It makes me sick thinking about how many couples in the world today are vainly pouring out their valuable emotions of affection and love into someone that they will one day forget about, regret, and leave for someone else so they can start the whole thing over again. Even many of those who are happily engaged or soon to be will undoubtedly end up divorced and bitter. I hate what this world has done to God’s creation of love! We’ve turned it into a big tangle of lust, falseness, and temporary feelings. We have taken this beautiful thing God made and destroyed it! It grieves me to say that I believe God is weeping this Valentine’s Day.

As for those of you who have chosen to wait for love and for God’s timing-not those who deceive themselves, but those who are truly waiting on God and not pursuing love before His say-I applaud you! God is cheering for you today! Have joy in knowing that you chose a better path with a reward that will put fairy tale love stories to shame! Run for the prize! Run hard, and never give in to those around you who pursue love early despite what the Scriptures say (Song of Songs 8:4). You have been chosen for glory! God be praised!

And as for myself, I pray that God would open the eyes of those who are chasing love today. I pray for those who have no hope of ever being loved by anyone, except by Jesus, that they would take refuge in Him and discover His Truth. God loves us so much, and His Love is far better than anything a mere human could offer. God be praised for those who are waiting for God’s timing today, and for those who have genuine, God-honoring, undivided love for the man or woman God has given them.

God is weeping today for the wasted love that people are expressing for one another. God is a jealous God. That love should be His. Why don’t we love the One who died for us as much as we love the mortal sinner that puts on a show for us on Valentine’s Day? Yes, God is weeping.
